Sis. Shurla Perkins is a God-fearing woman. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She is also the lovely wife of our senior Pastor Marlon T. Perkins Sr. and the blessed mother of Marlon Jr. and Reba. Born and raised on the beautiful island of Bermuda, she is the 6th child of 8 siblings to her parents George and Reba Ratteray. She is a 3rd generation Seventh-day Adventist. She is eternally grateful for the early foundation of being taught of Jesus love, worship and Sabbath keeping. At the age of 26 she fully surrendered her life to Jesus in baptism. That was a defining moment in her life as a Christian woman, confessing that she was a sinner saved by grace but thanks be to God – He looked beyond her faults and saw her need and longing for the Savior. Her daily prayer is for a heart cleansed and renewed through His shed blood and for inviting the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct her path until the day of His appearing.
Pastor and Sis. Perkins ministry as a Pastoral Couple began March 21, 1993. She has been blessed with an invaluable spiritual gift of hospitality. It is this gift that the warmth and welcome of Christian fellowship is witnessed. Sis. Perkins wears many hats at home, church, and in the community. She gives selfless service to her husband and children. She has also maintained an active role in church leadership throughout their ministry. Serving as church board member, childrens ministry leader, Head Deaconness, Womens Ministries leader, Hospitality Leader and being available to volunteer in an any area of need. Her current community service has been with Mission Arlington, Arlington, Texas.
